The Netgenium IP Card Reader is a proximity card reader utilising the industry leading HID iClass 13.56MHz smart card technology.

The reader has a single RJ45 Ethernet interface allowing direct connectivity to the LAN; communication is directly via TCP/IP protocol, allowing configuration via a web browser 

and the Netgenium Finder utility. The reader is powered via 802.3af Power over Ethernet eliminating the need to provide power at the reader position.

The card reader can be easily deployed via a single Category 5e or Category 6 data outlet providing both power and data to the unit in a single connection.

Product Benefits

PoE technology enables a device to receive electrical power and data over the same cable. A power-sourcing device, which connects directly to the power source and is situated between the switch and device, (in our case the devices being the IP Card Reader or IP Lock Controller) will detect the device and inject the right amount of electrical current over unused pairs in the Cat5e or Cat 6 Ethernet cable.

Our devices can then operate without having a direct connection to an electrical outlet. In addition to cost savings, this offers a variety of benefits, such as flexible mounting locations, better reliability because of less cables, and easier international deployment due to the use of a common power connection.
