Transport For Greater Manchester

Transport For Greater Manchester is the body responsible for the public transport services throughout Greater Manchester. It owns Greater Manchester's bus stations and the successful Metrolink tram system.

When planning upgrades to the bus and tram infrastructure the requirement for a flexible public address system for stations, interchanges and platforms was identified.

With Cisco’s IP Telephony and BBV’s Omnivision CCTV surveillance software already deployed. TFGM required a network based public address solution capable of providing audio announcements at locations throughout the transport network. The system had to provide seamless integration with existing systems.

Audio zones containing speakers and induction loops were configured on PolicyServer to represent individual or multiple platforms at a station. Each zone can be operated from authorised telephone handsets or CCTV operator consoles.
